Hematite Mineral
Hematite mineral is an iron
oxide.
It is popular as a gemstone used in bracelets and necklaces.
It is popular in earrings as hematite beads.
But this mineral is a lot more important than that.
Thanks to its great abundance and high iron content it is the most important iron ore.
It comes in many different varieties. It can be massive, specular, iridescent and it can form crystals.
There is also a red variety called kidney ore.
Its name comes from the Greek word for blood, referring to the red colour of the strike of hematite.
