Shale Rock

Shale rock is one of the most common sedimentary rocks.

It is the most common of all clastic sedimentary rocks.

It has silt and clay sized grains.

It consists mostly of clay minerals, but also others such as quartz, calcite and feldspar, and sometimes pyrite, iron and/or iron oxides.
